property and history

God has blessed us with a beautiful property that includes the site where our historic Church is located and the newer site which includes a staff residence, the Church Office and an additional building that is used for children's & youth ministry, and other ministries and services through the week.

The historic Church is more than 130 years old, with additions to the existing property (widening of the church and a new vestry, a new meeting room and kitchenette, additional amenities, a spacious deck and car park) completed in 2007.

In July 2012, God provided in an amazing way that enabled us to purchase the property adjoining the Church (31 Glenhaven Road) and so provide more space for ministry. The total property size is now 2.2ha.

In 2016, 130 years after starting as a mission chapel, the Sydney Diocese voted to re-classify Emmanuel Church a parish in its own right.

In 2018, in God's kindness and through the generosity of our members, construction of our new Ministry and Education Centre was completed. This new church building significantly expands our capacity to welcome newcomers, to exercise hospitality, and to bless our local community.

In 2018, after almost 20 years of pastoring the congregations at Emmanuel Church, John Hooton retired as Senior Minister. He and his wife, Lyndall, have been an extraordinary blessing to our church family and to Glenhaven. We thank God for them.

In 2019 Hayden Smith joined our church as our new Senior Minister.

We value the sacrificial commitment of our members to giving to pay off our bank loan, as well as their practical assistance around the property during the week and at regular working bees.
